Session one & two  Georgia DOE Facilities  see the presentation

Lynn Jackson, Director of Facilities Services and her staff will present key information related to facilities planning and legislative issues.

 

Session three  HISTORIC BUILDINGS  see the presentation

A panel consisting of facilities personnel representing small, medium and large school systems will discuss honoring the history of older buildings, community partnership and involvement with system facilities and renovation and disposal of older facilities.

 

Session four  DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION TEAM

Two concurrent sessions will address the individual needs of smaller and larger systems.  For systems without facilities personnel the discussion will outline step-by-step the process for procuring professional services.  For larger systems, the discussion will focus on prequalification, delivery systems and when to involve testing firms.

 

Session five  WATER CONSERVATION

This session will focus on conservation practices for sites, athletic fields and playgrounds.  Discussions will include outsourcing maintenance and grass vs. turf.

 

Session six  SCHOOL SECURITY  see the presentation

This session will include testimony from facilities personnel who have successfully implemented new security measures in their systems and discussion on hazards and threats in the everyday environment.

 

Session seven PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT IMPACT

Indoor air quality, acoustics and cleaning products are just some of the topics that will be covered in this informative session focused on the impact of the physical environment on students and staff.

 

Session eight & session nine  CONSTRUCTION LAW

You won't want to miss this double session addressing all your questions on construction law.  From bid requirements to delivery methods, payment and performance bonds to insurance requirements and immigration law to the new GC license requirements.

 

Session ten  TECHNOLOGY IN SCHOOLS  see the presentation

An informative session focused on instructional technology and the implementation in a variety of systems state-wide.  From smart board technology to wireless communications and everything in between from basic to advanced.

 

Session eleven & twelve  ROUNDTABLE

Lessons learned will be one of the many topics discussed in this interactive session.  All your favorite speakers will return for a wide open question and answer session.  Have your questions ready!  The chapter Board of Directions will also be present to address any organizational questions as well as share their professional insight.
