Making the case for joining and getting
involved with CEFPI
Several of my co-workers have been very
involved with CEFPI for many years, and
they urged me to start attending the
monthly meetings. In February, I
attended my first meeting, which took
place at Oconee County’s new high
school. I enjoyed the program and liked
having the opportunity to tour the
school.

Communities In Schools
Communities in Schools (CIS) was started
in the 70s by three ambitious young men
(Neil Shorthouse, Bill Milliken and
David Lewis) who saw the need to help
at-risk kids succeed in school and
develop marketable skills. The
organization has grown to become the
largest stay-in school network serving
nearly two million students in 28 states
and 2,000 school systems.

starts to get complicated. This is true
for schools, restaurants, corporate
cafes, clubs, hotels, churches or where
